Founded in 1989 by Angela Kirkham and Jennie Henry, Kirkham Henry Performing Arts in Malton has more than 37 years of experience. Kirkham Henry Performing Arts CIO Kirkham Henry Performing Arts is a thriving, inclusive performing arts organisation based in Malton and Norton, North Yorkshire, dedicated to excellence in dance, performance, education and community wellbeing. At the heart of Kirkham Henry is a simple belief: dance is for everyone. We provide high-quality training and performance opportunities for all ages and abilities, from our youngest dancers and aspiring performers through to adults and older generations. Our students are encouraged to develop not only technical skill, musicality, discipline and artistry, but also confidence, creativity and a genuine lifelong love of dance. Our programme encompasses ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, commercial, musical theatre, drama, singing, gymnastics and acro, with recognised vocational pathways alongside recreational training. We are passionate about maintaining the highest standards across both, ensuring that every dancer — whether pursuing a professional future or dancing purely for enjoyment — feels equally valued and inspired. What makes Kirkham Henry truly distinctive is our commitment to inclusive dance and community impact. We provide specialist opportunities for SEND participants, people living with Parkinson’s, dementia and neurological conditions, blind and visually impaired dancers, older adults and those who may lack confidence in traditional dance environments. Through movement and performance, we help people build strength, confidence, independence, friendships and a sense of belonging. We are proud to collaborate with respected organisations, schools, health and social prescribing networks and dance institutions, helping us bring the benefits of dance to people who might otherwise never have the opportunity to participate.
